What is plantar fasciitis? Plantar fascia is
the ligament, which is thin and like a web with connects the heel to the foot.
It starts at the heel, moves along the entire sole, and then stretches out to
under the toes. This helps the heel become a part of the foot and helps in
walking.
The symptoms of
plantar fasciitis are stabbing pain at the bottom of the foot near the heel
when one gets up early in the morning. It is usually experienced while trying
to sit or stand in the morning. It is the most common cause of heel pain. If
one stresses or strains the plantar fascia it becomes irritable, swollen and
weak. It is common cause of leg pain among middle-aged people. The causes for
this pain are people who have high arches of their soles or flat feet. People,
who walk, stand and run for longer periods of time especially on hard grounds
face this problem. People who are overweight or who wear wrong shoes like stilettos
or worn-out shoes for longer periods of time. One must keep in mind that this
pain comes usually in the morning and in the daytime while climbing up the
stairs.
