As the saying goes, all things that have merits also have
demerits. Stagnant water from kitchen taps can cause the laminate to wear. As
earlier stated, they are cheaper than other conventional flooring options and
as such reduce the value of homes in which they are used. Also, cheaper grades
of laminate with thin wear layers may need to be stripped and replaced
periodically. This is not the case with concrete flooring or polyvinyl tiles.
Since most grades of the laminate are not as hard as wood, tiles or most other
floors, they tend to make more noise when they are stepped upon. Laminate
flooring cannot be remodeled or redesigned as they are delivered custom from
the manufacturers and any desired alterations in design will require the
complete replacement of the floors.
In conclusion, taking into consideration the low pressure
that kitchen floors face daily and the ever-increasing cost of obtaining
high-end floor finishes, laminate flooring can be said to be a very good option
when you are considering the type of floor to use in your kitchen, and by
extension, your house.
